Getting to know the MAP team series – Week 2

What do you do at MAP?

The girls would say I complain a lot! Hah, I basically do whatever Melissa Wheeler tells me to do (although, she would probably disagree!) This includes BAS’, Financial Statements, Income Tax Returns and Superfunds.

Why accounting?

If I’m completely honest, I haven’t quite figured that one out myself…I have always been good with numbers and accounting sort of fell in my lap. I enjoy it and I’m studying it now too so I guess I’m pretty committed now!

What is your fave thing about working for MAP?

The girls I work with (obviously). You spend the biggest part of your life at work so I think it is really important that you genuinely enjoy the company of those you work with. It’s really exciting to work alongside people who are on the same page as you. The MAP team are hardworking, supportive and downright hilarious. The atmosphere here is always so bright and I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

 Why work for MAP?

Who wouldn’t want to be part of this funky business? Typically, accountants are known for being super boring and people often cringe when I tell them I’m studying to become one. Working for MAP means that you get to break this stereotype and be part of a refreshing business in the usually dull accounting world.

How do you kill time on the weekends?

The responsible answer here would be to say that I spend my weekends doing uni work but that would be such a lie! It’s usually spent with my friends, relaxing and consuming a few (too many) beverages.

Top goal in life?

I wouldn’t say that I really have a life goal. (Gosh, how uninspiring). I believe that people often set goals and let other opportunities slip by because they are so close minded and determined to achieve that goal. I think it’s important to take each day as it comes and make the most of the present. In saying this, I’d love to visit every Disneyland in the world by the time I’m 25. (I’m running out of time and have only visited Paris and Tokyo Disneyland so far – best get the annual leave forms cranking.)

 What is your ideal holiday?

Anywhere with good scenery and even better food, spent with people who know how to have a good time and who make me laugh.

One sentence to describe you

Just here to have a good time.
